Olympic Gold and World Ranked Track & Field Athletes to Conduct Clinic in V.I. on Nov. 10-12

The Virgin Islands Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation and The Virgin Islands Track and Field Federation (VITFF) announced today that they will host the Under The Sun Sprint and Jumps Clinic which is bringing Olympic track and field medalist Jason Rouser and Lamont Smith along with world championship medalist Jason Grimes and world ranked Stanley Holmes to work with V.I. coaches and athletes on St. Thomas and St. Croix.

The clinic will be held Nov. 10 at the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School Track and Field Facility. The clinics, open to all, present a great opportunity for certified, uncertified, active and inactive track and field coaches and/or those with an interest in track and field, including public and private school and club coaches and athletes, to get involved and/or enhance their knowledge of the sport.

The athletes’ clinic will focus on sprints and long jump from age five to 20 of any ability and experience. The clinics will take place on St. Thomas, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 11, at the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School Track and on St. Croix from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 12, at the St. Croix Educational High School Track.

Registration for the clinics is available at https://vitrackandfield.com/events/ no later than Wednesday, Nov. 9. Registration with the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is also required.

This event is a collaborative effort of the Amateur Athletic Union of the USA (AAU), V.I. Parks and Recreation and the Virgin Islands Track & Field Federation (VITFF).
