St. Thomas Woman Assaulted; Suspect in Custody

A St. Thomas man has been arrested and charged for assaulting a woman, the V.I. Police Department reported Friday.

On Saturday, July 15, VIPD was dispatched to the area of Deli Bank Bar regarding an assault. Upon officers’ arrival, they met with a woman who required medical attention due to the reported assault, according to the police report.

The woman was transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center’s the Emergency Department via EMS for medical care due to the serious injuries she sustained during the attack, the police report stated.

The suspect in this matter was later identified as 25-year-old Jackoy Mulraine, the report stated.

On Thursday a warrant was obtained for the arrest of Mulraine, and he was taken into custody at the Special Operations Bureau without incident.  Mulraine was charged with assault-third, mayhem, unlawful sexual contact in the first degree, disturbance of the peace and simple assault. His bail was set at $75,000, police said.

This case is presently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
