Tedra V. Gerard, also known as “Val,” of Joseph E. James Terrace died on Nov. 17.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Clemence Gerard and Alexandrina Davis; siblings: Clemence Gerard, Norman Gerard and Alice Gerard Stevens; son, Dave Hansen; and niece, Jasmine Roy.
She is survived by her sister, Doreen Gerard; daughters: Elaine Sewer, Rynel Prescott and Alice Libert; son, Adrian Gerard; godsons: Leroy Ford and Akeel Phillips; grandsons: Emmett Bramble, Omaliy Barnes, Julian Veira Jr., David Hansen (with Julia, Marvin and Jaeda), Dave and Alphonso Hansen Jr., and Ajani Gerard; grandson-in-law, Sean Herbert; granddaughters: Naima Brooks-Macedon, Ashley Georges, Monifa Veira, Jahmalia Barnes-Herbert, Jahzara Gerard; and great-grandsons: Brian Chase Jr., Nicholai Chase, Nichai Bramble, Jahsai Veira, Jah’Cory Herbert, Jah’Sean Herbert, Jah’Mani Herbert, Jahmalie Barnes and Shamaliy Barnes.
She is also survived by great-granddaughters: Omyah Barnes, Kmyah Barnes, Tmoyah Barnes, Jahmoyah Barnes, Jah’Nyla Herbert and Reign Roebuck; nephews: Walton Macedon, Henry Sobratti, Hilberto Ayala and Colin Stevens; nieces: Sherry DeGrasse and Angela “Angie” Williams; grand (great) nephews: Tmoi Stevens, Henry Sobratti III, Tejai Stevens and Selah Macedon; grand (great) nieces: Kavida DeGrasse, Tamia Stevens, Tiana Stevens, D’Nyah Sobratti, Tiana Stevens, Thema Macedon, Isulah Macedon and Jasmine “Arrie” Roy; and great-grand nephews: Ajani Wathey, Joshua Diaz, J’Mar Diaz, Aswad Petersen Jr., Malakai Christian and Daniel Salter.
Other survivors include great-grand nieces: Azhanea Wathey, Adana Petersen, Luna Scatliffe, Kailah Christian, Shaelani Roy and Jasshae Roy; great-great-grand nephew, Ajani Wathey Jr.; extended family: The Simmonds Family, Dalsia Parilla and Family, The Miller Family, The John Family, The Davis Family, The James Family, The Horsford Family, The McIntosh Family, The Williams Family, Betsy Tutein and Family, Dinorah Singh and Family, Mattylee Seeley and Family, The Gerard Family, Myra Hendricks and Family, The Harvey Family, Camille Macedon and Family, and The Rhymer Family; special and close friends: Julie, Wilmot Libert, Alphonso “Al” Hansen, Leroy Prescott, Ray Williams, Vilma Franklyn and family, Bernice George and family, and Lenore Thomas and family; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
The viewing will begin at 9 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 18, at Friedenstahl Moravian Church. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
