Smith-Eatmon-Simpson-Smith Set a New Virgin Islands National Record!

The Virgin Islands Track and Field Federation hosted the Tabarie Henry Virgin Islands National Track and Field Championships at the Ivanna Eudora Kean HS Track on St. Thomas.

The 4*400M Mixed Relay team of Malique Smith, Faith Eatmon, Omar Simpson and Michelle Smith set a new Virgin Islands record of 3:42.22, according to the press release.

St. Croix Track Club’s Smith and Simpson both won three National Championships each. Smith won the mixed relay in the 100m Hurdles in 14.31 and the 400m Hurdles in 57.42. Simpson won the Mixed Relay in the 200m in 23.39 and the 400m in 52.84, the press release stated.

Double gold winners were St. Croix Track Club’s Malique Smith Mixed Relay and 400m Hurdles in 51.90. St. Croix Track Club’s Eatmon in the Mixed Relay and the 100m 13.16. Davina Browne competed for the St. Croix Track Club in the Shot Put 8.15m and Javelin Throw 26.95m, the release stated.

Jolly Rogers Running Club’s Nathan Langley won the 800m in 2:03.41 and the 1500m in 4:29.64. Jordan Vaughn, St. Croix Track Club, Shot Put 12.05m and Javelin Throw 32.83m. Charlise Morris, St. Croix Track Club, 200m 27.30 and 400m 1:06.58, it said.

Other National Champions are Bridget Klein, Jolly Rogers Running Club 1500m 5:21.24, and Brandon Pemberton in the 100m in 10.83. Safiya Prasad, St. Croix Track Club, 800m in 2:49.32, and Jayvan Benjamin, Champion Track Club St. Thomas, in the Long Jump 5.75m, it said.
