St. Croix Man Arrested; Assaults Woman With Sword

Police arrested a St. Croix man for assaulting a woman with a sword, the V.I. Police Department reported Monday.

On June 28, at approximately 11:12 a.m., a woman victim filed a report with police against Reynaldo “Naldo” Rivera Jr. for assaulting her and causing visible injuries, according to the police report.

The victim stated that she confronted Rivera Jr. about keeping the house clean, and an argument ensued. The victim further stated that Rivera pushed her against the wall and began assaulting her. Later, he retrieved his sword and started striking her about the body with the sheath of the sword, causing visible injuries, the police report stated.

Rivera, 20, was apprehended and transported to the Ann Schrader Command Police Station by members of the School Security Bureau and the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Rivera was placed under arrest for assault in the third-degree DV and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a crime of violence. No bail was set as per the Domestic Violence law; therefore, Rivera was transported to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing, the report stated.
