Cousin Cut in Knife Attack; Woman Jailed Without Bail

A woman was arrested Monday on St. Croix in connection with a domestic assault involving a brass-knuckle knife that left her cousin with a head injury, according to the Virgin Islands Police Department.

Police said Donna Emmanuel was taken into custody around 12:45 p.m., a day after allegedly attacking her cousin with the weapon during a dispute. The assault resulted in a laceration to the victim’s head. A friend of the victim who was present during the incident reported witnessing Emmanuel use the knife to inflict the wound.

The victim was transported to Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment. Emmanuel was charged with third-degree assault and domestic violence. Due to the domestic violence charge, no bail was set, and she was remanded to the John A. Bell Correctional Facility, the police report stated.

Emmanuel is scheduled to appear for an advice of rights hearing at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Kingshill Superior Court, police said.
