Supporters of Virgin Islands history and culture will have an opportunity to give back while enjoying a Sunday brunch this weekend as the Frenchtown Civic Organization (FTCO) hosts a fundraiser benefiting the French Heritage Museum.

The fundraising brunch will take place Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lavalette’s Restaurant at Hotel 1829 on St. Thomas. Proceeds from the event will help support the museum’s mission of preserving and sharing the history, traditions, and cultural legacy of the Virgin Island’s French community.

Guests can enjoy brunch while contributing to the museum through several fundraising initiatives. A portion of all brunch proceeds will benefit the museum, while 100% of the sales from the event’s featured drink special, courtesy of Cardow Wine & Spirits, will be donated directly to the organization. The event will also include a 50/50 raffle, with winners announced live on the French Heritage Museum’s Facebook page.

FTCO President Cindy Richardson said the fundraiser represents another opportunity for the community to invest in preserving an important part of the territory’s heritage. “The French Heritage Museum exists to ensure that the stories, traditions, and contributions of our French ancestors are not forgotten. Every fundraiser like this helps us continue preserving that history while creating opportunities to share it with future generations,” she said.

Richardson said the event also reflects the organization’s belief that cultural preservation is a community effort. “We hope families, neighbors, and visitors will join us not only for a wonderful brunch, but because they recognize the importance of protecting this piece of Virgin Islands history. The museum belongs to all of us, and every show of support helps strengthen its future,” she said.

Hotel 1829’s Assistant General Manager Melissa Bryan said the historic property is proud to partner with the FTCO for an event celebrating local heritage. “Hotel 1829 has long been a place where history and hospitality come together. We’re honored to host this fundraiser and support an organization dedicated to preserving the rich cultural traditions that make the Virgin Islands so unique,” she said.

Bryan said she hopes guests leave the event knowing they contributed to something meaningful. “We’re excited to welcome the community for an afternoon of great food, fellowship, and giving back to an institution that works to preserve our collective history,” she said.
