The 19th Virgin Islands Board of Education (VIBE) acknowledges and commends the teachers of the Virgin Islands during this 2020 Teacher Appreciation Week.

“Teachers are as important as grandparents in the development of every child’s self-image, emotional stability and ambitions. They are not babysitters, as some may believe; rather they are the architects of our future leaders,” said VIBE Chairperson Arah C. Lockhart.

“Teachers are the conduits between the dreams of our children and the process for the realization of those dreams. In many cultures, teachers are revered as living libraries, and so they should be equally revered here in our community, as well,” Lockhart said.

Lockhart urges each member of the community to become acquainted with the teachers and their work on behalf of children.
