Calypso Charters Unveils Second Power Catamaran Bad Kitty 2

Calypso Charters recently added another Bad Kitty to its fleet, above.

Anyone who has spotted a second sleek new power catamaran cruising around St. John was not seeing double.

Calypso Catamaran Charters recently unveiled Bad Kitty 2, an exact replica of Bad Kitty 1, both of which were built by St. Croix’s Gold Coast Yachts.

The 49-foot wave piercing catamarans with 33 passenger capacities offer plenty of seating both for those wanting to soak up rays and stay out of the sun. The first charter boat proved so reliable and popular, it was a no-brainer to order a second one, explained Calypso Charters owner Sheree York.

“The boats can carry up to 33 guests, but there are so many seating areas that you never feel crowded,” said York. “On a lot of charters you get a seat and that’s it, you’re there for the day. But on Bad Kitty you can move around and be indoors in the shade or outside on the back or up on top.”

“And the design is great because it’s a very smooth riding and a very fast boat,” said York. “The boats can really cut through the water and we rarely have to cancel any trips.”

While, Bad Kitty 1 and Bad Kitty 2 were both designed and built by Gold Coast Yachts, York’s husband and Calypso Charters co-owner Scott York designed the interior layout of the vessels.

“My husband designed the layout of the inside of the vessel with the open bar area and seating,” said York.

Now with two wave-piercing catamarans, Calypso Charters can offer smaller groups custom-tailored trips on Bad Kitty 2, York added.

“The second boat allows us to accommodate guests with smaller parties and we can really create any kind of day charter they want,” she said.

From half-day to full-day, guided and sunset sails, Calypso Charters offers an array of cruising trips from St. John. For more information check out www.calypsovi.com or call York at 777-7245.
