Having awarded CARES Act Grants totaling approximately $700,000 to child care providers across the territory since July 2021, and an additional $220,000 having been approved for disbursal, the Virgin Islands Department of Human Services (VIDHS) Office of Child Care and Regulatory Services has announced that it has resumed accepting CARES Act Grant applications. The last day for submitting a new grant application is Sept. 10.
If an individual is a licensed child care provider who has not already been awarded CARES Act Grant funds, that person is eligible to apply for up to $30,000 in Cares Act funding.
Pick up CARES Act 2022 applications at the Office of Child Care and Regulatory Services Child Care at the Knud Hansen Complex on St. Thomas or 129 Golden Rock, Christiansted, on St. Croix. Or visit the VIDHS website at www.dhs.gov.vi and download the application from the Office of Child Care and Regulatory Services page. Utilize the updated 2022 application provided at the indicated locations.

CARES Act Grant funds are 100% federal dollars provided to the territory’s childcare providers through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families Office of Child Care.
