Ella Bernice Harrigan Dies at 92

Ella Bernice Harrigan

Ella Bernice Harrigan died on June 27 at her residence. She was 92 years old.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil C. Harrigan; and son, Steve Harrigan.

She is survived by sons: Cecil Cleve Harrigan II, Dale Harrigan and Clyde Vanterpool; daughters: Delia Francis and Cecilia Hawley; granddaughters: Andrea Francis, Shatel Noel, Shabre Providence, Jeune Provost, Jillian Harrigan-Falcon, Camila Harrigan-Labarca, Sabrina, Brielle and Brione Vanterpool; and grandsons: Dante Bostic, Khari Harrigan, Je’Coy Hawley and Sebastien Harrigan.

She is also survived by great-grandsons: Ki’Andre Thomas, Jaden Providence, Mason Bostic and Preston Noel Jr.; great-granddaughters: Azariah Providence, Milanya Provost, Luciana Morales-Harrigan, Sofia Morales-Harrigan, J’Nae Noel and Sernia Noel; daughter-in-law, Soledad Marucha Harrigan; and sisters-in-law: Alice Harrigan Heywood and Lillethe Harrigan.

She is also survived by nieces: Nydia Morris Burt, Juanita Milliner, Julita Milliner-Waddell, Lillian Gumbs, Lyra Freeman, Portia Jackson, Nelia Heywood, Janna Harrigan, Peta Cole, Edith Harrigan and Cicely Smith; nephews: Louis Harrigan, Allan Harrigan, Earl Harrigan, Bernard Harrigan, Eldred Harrigan, Gregory Heywood, Jason Harrigan; and special cousins: Luna Frett, George Henley Jr. and Sylvia Gumbs.

Other survivors include special nieces: Genevieve Donovan, Barbara Fredricks, Peola Harrigan and Ruth Morris Flax; adopted son, Keithley “Ala” Adams; adopted daughter, Edith Werts; adopted granddaughter, Shamang Straun; as well as special friends: Maxine Turnbull, Mary Lou Harley, Iva Parry, the de Castro family, the Blyden family, the Harrigan family, Wesley Methodist Church and the Lockhart Elementary School retirees.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend viewing that will take place at 9 a.m. with service to begin at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 18, at Wesley Methodist Church. Interment will be at Smith Bay Cemetery.
