Dec. 2: St. John Ten Bay 10K
December 2, 2018 @ 7:15 am - 11:30 am
Calling all athletes looking for a new challenge! Registration is open for the second St. John Ten Bay 10K Road Race scheduled for 7:15AM on Sunday, December 2nd. The Ten Bay 10K features a challenging and scenic course within the Virgin Islands National Park along North Shore Road. Beginning at the National Park Visitor Center, the course traverses the north shore of St. John for 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), overlooking ten of the world’s most beautiful bays and beaches. The race finishes at Maho Bay beach.
There is a 2-hour time limit to complete the race. Runners and walkers must be able to keep at least a consistent 19-minute per mile place on steep, hilly roads. The westbound lane of North Shore Road will be closed during the event. Portions of the lane will re-open to traffic at specific times, and participants who have not passed checkpoints by a certain time threshold will be removed from the course.
The $35 entry fee per athlete includes a finisher’s award, on-course support and post-race snacks. Prizes will be awarded to the top three men and women. Commemorative race shirts (tees for men, tank tops for women) may be purchased for $30 until November 1st.
Sign up online at www.tenbay10k.com. Participation is capped at 100, so race directors encourage early registration. There is no registration the day of the race. An optional pre-race briefing meeting will take place at The Tap Room on Saturday, December 1st.
