Iris Duncan Webster, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, died on Aug. 20 at the age of 73 in Florida.
Iris was born on Anguilla on April 23, 1947, to the late William Duncan and the late Clemence Carter-Duncan.
She is survived by her sons: Jenks Webster and Kelly Webster; daughters: LaVerne Gibbons and Sherma Romney; ex-husband and father of her children, Jean H. Webster; grandsons: Linden Gibbons and Shemar Webster; granddaughters: Ashley Bushauna Freeman, Sade Gibbons, Riyana Romney and Starr Jeanique Webster; sons-in-law: Carlo Gibbons and Roy Romney; brother, Austin Duncan; sister, Merle Lake; and brothers-in-law: Fred Lake, Thomas Webster and Melvin Richardson.
She was also survived by sisters-in-law: Alma and Joyce Duncan; nephews: Eric Queeley Sr., Granville, Eric, William, John, Scott and Tim Duncan, Terrence, Earl and Curt Lake, Orlando Govia and Ison Gumbs; nieces: Elsa, Annette, Everette, Ethel, Cheryl, Joy and Aria Duncan, Iris Richardson, Hannah Wiltshire, Arlene and Carla Lake, Maria Duncan-Foreman, Cheryl Lowery, Tricia McKoy, Eleanor and Venetta Gumbs, Jacqueline Govia and Liza Jagrup; and many great-nephews and great-nieces too numerous to mention.
Also left to mourn are the descendants of the late Jane Hunter, Ashton Carter, Seymour Carter, Rose Bryan, Myrtle Ruan, Van Carter, Marjorie Richardson, Matilda Duncan Rogers, Caroline Fleming, Doreen Duncan, Drucilla Augustus, Mervin Duncan, and Dalee Duncan; and close families: Marshall family, Romney family, Myra Rogers and family, Claire Wilson and family, Dorothy, Javois, Cecilia Francis, Stephanie Fleming, Grethel, Campbell, Ermine, Clement, Carl and Nena Carter, Franswar Hodge and family, Lucille Augustus, Amelie Hodge, Melonie George, Agnes Duncan-Maurice and family, Rose Duncan and family, Verna and Stewart Fleming, and Shirley Queeley and family.
She was related to the Carter, Duncan, Fleming, Ruan, Augustus and Hodge families; godsons: Jahoda Benjamin and Brandon Richardson; friends: Bishop Ambrose Gumbs, Reginald Hodge, Bernard Francis, members of Holy Spirit Church, all of the Warren E. Brown community, Jacqueline Francis, Sylvanie Frett, Cyrilla King, Fidelia Ryan, Anna, Rahkiya, Bonnie, Kawame and Kai Benjamin, Steve Stevens, Ruth Thomas, Gloria Walters, Harold Hodge, David Stroud, Abid, Aziz, Faria, Sadia, Verhad, Vereena, Faizoon and Adjiedj Idoe.
A viewing will be held at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Turnbull’s Funeral Home. Interment will be at Eastern Cemetery, Smith Bay.
