Jaime Monte of Estate Upper Love, Frederiksted, St. Croix, died on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2023. He was 75 years old.
Mr. Monte was preceded in death by his spouse, Maria Luisa Ramos Monte; mother, Claudina Ayala Rosa; and father, Rufino Monte.
He is survived by his sons: Jaime Monte Jr., Carlos Javier Monte and Jose Monte; grandchildren: Jaime Monte III, Isaiah Monte, Makayla Monte and Justin Monte; daughter-in-law, Connie Siegfried Monte; sisters-in-law: QuiQui Vasquez, Gertrude Ortiz, Leslie Nieves, Teresa Nieves and Mildred Nieves; brothers-in-law: Bill Elliot and Ambrose Mathurin; and sisters: Julia Claxton, Lucretia Elliot, Carlota Mathurin and Maribel Nieves.
Heis is also survived by brothers: Carlos Nieves, Victorino Nieves and Angel L. Nieves; and nieces: Betsaida Ortiz, Yolanda Audfire, Jacqueline Santiago, Lilly Santiago, Iris Maldonado, Alma Ayala, Marisol Carter, Laura Way, Marisa Trinidad, Tiffany Nyhaug, Tina LaMonte, Daisy Khan, Damaris Cancel, Theshia L. Nieves, Giana Christopher and Siedah Browne.
He is also survived by nephews, Freddy Ortiz, Orlando Cruz, Marcelo Cruz, MacDonald Claxton, Edwin Claxton, Dean Everington, Carlos Nieves Jr., Daniel Nieves, Enrique Nieves, Anthony Harris, Rashawn Browne and Adrian Pabon; numerous great nieces and great-nephews; and special friends: Cecilio Everington, Norman “Henry” Martin, Richard Anderson, Verne Richards, Rafael Martinez, James Hodge, David Jacal, Jason Dickerson, Otilio Giron, Misael Melendez, Pedro Reyes, Juan Centeno, Jorge Ventura, Carmelo Luis Robles, and Coquin Nieves;
Other survivors include cousins and other relatives: Jaime Vasquez, Elizabeth Encarnacion, Vivita Encarnacion, Raul Encarnacion, Vilma Santana, Ito Benitez, Eddy Benitez, Myrna Bonano, Nito Ayala, Getive “Betty” Vidal, Elizabeth “Lisin” Drew, Regina “Gini” Guirty, Felicidad “Cui” Joseph and Ada Santos; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 29, at the Iglesia Movimiento Pentecostal located at 99 Estate Upper Love, Frederiksted, St. Croix. Tributes will begin at 10 a.m., following by the memorial at 10:30 a.m.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Schuster’s Crematorium LLC.
