Man Arrested on St. Croix for Credit Card Fraud

A St. Croix man has been arrested for using several credit cards fraudulently, the V.I. Police Department reported Friday.

An investigation revealed that Yey Castillo Tejeda, 38, used several credit cards fraudulently on three different occasions to obtain merchandise from Carlos Furniture, totaling $16,097 without the individuals’ permission, according to the police report.

Castillo Tejeda was arrested at Morena’s Place Restaurant and Night Bar Thursday. He was charged with grand larceny, obtaining money by false pretense, acting in assumed character, fraudulent use of a credit card, and access to computer for fraudulent purposes, the police report stated.

Castillo Tejeda was transported to the Wilbur H. Francis Police Operation Building in Frederiksted, where he was processed and booked. Bail was set at $20,000. He was unable to post bail and was remanded to John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility, pending his advice of rights hearing, police said.
