Michelle Smith at Florida High School State Championships Continues Successes

Virgin Islands Sports Ambassador Michelle Smith, a a high school senior at Montverde Academy and University of Georgia commit, took part in the Florida High School FHSAA 2A State Championships in Jacksonville, Fla., on May 16.

She won the state championship in the 100m hurdles. She finished 1st and ran a new Virgin Islands U20 record and Montverde School record with a time of 13.77. https://youtu.be/MD292oRI30g – 100m hurdles race.

Smith also became the state champion in the 400m hurdles, running a Florida State Championship Meet record of 57.82. https://youtu.be/msfQt9rBw5A  – 400m hurdles race.

In the long jump, she placed 4th with a jump of 5.70 meters. In addition, Smith played a significant role in her victorious 4x400m relay team, which completed its race in a new Florida State Championship Meet record of 3:40.75.

Smith and her team were the undisputed winners of the state championship, amassing a point total of 117 points. Bolles High School placed 2nd with 76 points.

Michelle Smith is graduated from high school on May 18 and will be running her final high school races at the New Balance Outdoor National Championships at Franklin Field in Philadelphia from June 13 to 16.
