Liberty VI will start performing restoration work that involves milling and paving on the Nicholas Friday Memorial Drive, also known as the Red Hook Rd. in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI) on Thursday, Jan. 16. The project, planned to take approximately ten (10) workdays to complete, is part of the Fiber to the Home program that will provide access to high-speed internet connectivity to all homes and businesses in the area.
The work in this area will be performed between the hours of 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday, and will have minimal traffic impact particularly during school hours. However, residents and drivers within the area should expect delays due to lane and partial road closures and must exercise caution when traveling on the roadway. Residents and Business within the Red Hook community are encouraged to park their vehicles on their properties and not on the street to avoid obstructions or possible damage.
“This road surface restoration work is important for this area, we will have 10 days of inconvenience, yet in the end, we will have a better road to travel on,” said Ravindra Maywahlall, general manager of Liberty VI.
The work will extend up to 5,200 feet along the Red Hook Road and it includes restoration of a new micro trench line and repairing of the existing fiber core route.
