Shaquan Okeo Evans Dies at 18

Shaquan Okeo Evans

Shaquan Okeo Evans, also known as “Shaq,” of Houston, Texas, died on Feb. 5. He was 18 years old.

He was preceded in death by his aunt, Diana Charles.

He is survived by his mother, Desiree Charles; father, Copley Evans; grandmothers: Clothilda Cornelius and Mary Moorehead; grandfather, Roy Charles; sisters: Soriyah Evans, Regina Evans, Amaya Evans, Imani Evans, Timmisha Evans, Timmeika Evans, Timmiqua Evans, Tamaura Evans and Camaura Evans; and brothers: Shamaar Evans, Lowell Amory III, Deon Evans, Tyrique Evans, O’dani Evans, Sahkani Evans, Timmy Evans, Copley Evans, Jr., Sequan Evans and Shaquille Springer.

Other survivors include nieces: Jaliana Beckwith, Jaelle Beckwith, Honor Evans, Re’She Ritter, Reginae James, Sanayah James, Aryanna Evans, Jahnesia Francis and Aniya Evans; nephews: Jayden Beckwith, Copley Evans, III, Ajoni James, Jahni Francis, Jorden Lucas and King James; godparents: Elenor Smith, Kenia Walcott-Ayala, Aisha Jules, Terry Rose and Cynthia Parris; aunts: Denise Charles and Rose Marie Charles; uncles: DeAngelo Charles and Dion Charles; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

The viewing will take place at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 18, at Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Estate LaVallee. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.

The family asks that all attendees adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines. Masks are required to attend services.
