Sports, Parks and Recreation Offers Virtual Summer Camps

The purpose of summer camp is to promote socialization, play games, and engage in fun activities with peers and friends.

The V.I. Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation announces the creation of several virtual summer camps, which will be free to all who want to log in and join this virtual experience.

The department’s six-week virtual camp will run from June 22 through July 31. Program offerings are Beginner and Intermediate Dance, Cultural Arts and Crafts, the Foundation to Visual Arts, and the Fundamentals of Basketball, Volleyball and Baseball.

Instructors will stream live on Facebook and Zoom each day. Visit the Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation’s (DSPR) Facebook page for the application, schedules and updates. DSPR has received clearance to reopen all of its baseball parks in the territory to host practices only, starting Monday, June 15. In this and any instance, please continue to adhere to social distancing precautions.

As we all know, the continued risks associated with becoming infected by the COVID-19 virus remain. In many instances, sports-related activities require physical contact. As DSPR receives more guidance from local Health Department and the Center for Disease Control, it will adjust its position to allow persons, both young and old, to utilize its facilities.
