Virtue of the Week – Grace

Virtue of the Week – Grace

Virtue of the Week focuses on building peaceful and caring communities through understanding and fostering the practice of virtues. The Source supports the Virtues Project and will publish one virtue developed by the project each week.

Grace

Grace is our connection to the universe. It is the sense that we are loved and provided for in all circumstances. It is opening ourselves to bounty. Grace inspires us to give unconditional love to others. When we are gracious, others are drawn to our company. We can turn every communication and relationship into a thing of beauty. We grow in grace when we treat others with dignity, kindness and courtesy, and we forgive. Connecting deeply with grace, we become the presence of grace to others.

Quote: “Grace is the beauty of form under the influence of freedom.” -Friedrich Schiller

The Practice of Grace

I trust grace to carry me through times of trouble.

I am open to abundance.

I connect to others with my tenderness.

I am gracious in my attitudes.

I am willing to forgive.

I think, move, and speak with gentleness and courtesy.

Questions for Discussion

  • How can I be the presence to grace to someone?
  • What is a forgiveness I am withholding and what would grace look like in this situation?
  • Where is there an opportunity for grace in your life, family, workplace, and community?
  • What does speaking with gentleness look like to you?
  • Is there a current circumstance that needs some tenderness?
