2022 General Election Early Voting Closes With 11,849 Voters

After 22 days of early voting, the 2022 General Election early voting has ended with a successful turnout, according to Supervisor of Elections Caroline Fawkes.

The number of electors who participated in early voting are as follows: St. Thomas — 5,518; St. Croix — 5,963; and St. John — 368, for a total territory-wide of 11,849, which represents 30 percent of the registered voters.

Fawkes thanked the Elections System staff, board members, Elections officials, and support agencies that worked selflessly to ensure the success of early voting and the safety of electors who came in to cast their ballots.

Electors who were unable to cast their ballot during early voting can do so on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8. Voting centers will open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. A voting center is an alternative to traditional, neighborhood-based precincts. Voters may cast their ballots on Election Day at any voting center on their island.

Fawkes also reminded voters who could not vote during early voting or on Election Day that they or their representative can obtain an emailed absentee ballot or an absentee ballot from the Elections System Office.

“We have the power to forge a different future, but only if we vote,” said Fawkes, quoting former President Barack Obama.
