Man Dies After Shooting Near Sunny Isles Gas Station on St. Croix

A man died Monday night after a shooting near a gas station in the Sunny Isles area on St. Croix, the Virgin Islands Police Department reported.

Police said the 911 Emergency Call Center received alerts from the ShotSpotter detection system around 7:05 p.m., followed by calls from residents reporting shots fired and a man down near the Gas for Less gas station in Estate Diamond.

Responding officers found a Black male lying on the western side of the gas station, bleeding from his body, according to the police report. Emergency Medical Technicians transported the victim to the Juan F. Luis Hospital, where he later died.

He was identified by next of kin as 41-year-old Emmett Bramble Jr., police said.

Bramble’s death marks the fourth homicide reported this year on St. Croix and the seventh in the territory, with three recorded on St. Thomas and none on St. John, according to the Source Homicide List*.
