Angelo C. Liburd Sr. Dies at 69

Angelo C. Liburd Sr.

Angelo C. Liburd Sr., also known as “Ed” or “Benny,” died on March 7 on St. Thomas, V.I. He was 69 years old.

Angelo was preceded in death by his beloved parents: Hugo and Catherine Liburd; brothers: Kenneth Sewer and Juanito A Liburd; niece, Alana Liburd; and nephew, Raul Canton.

Angelo is survived by his wife, Ruth Liburd; sons: Angelo Liburd Jr. and Justin Liburd Sr.; grandchildren: Ja’Nay Liburd, Jordyn Liburd and  Justin Liburd Jr.; adopted daughter, Akeya Roberts; brothers: Keith Sewer, Almando Liburd (Linda), Lorenzo Liburd and Richard Dalmida; sisters: Juanita Liburd-Canton and Felicita Liburd-Creque; aunts: Gloria Samuel and Marva Applewhite; and brothers-in-law, Jones Rogers Jr. and Gitano Creque.

He was also survived by sisters-in-law: Mona Rogers-Munoz, Roseline Rogers, Charmaine Rogers and Maria Rogers-Williams; aunts-in-law: Dorothy Carty, Daphne Vanterpool and Eunice Harrigan; uncles-in-law: Timotheus Carty and James Carty; special cousins: Yvonne Wells, Avelino Samuel and Alberto Samuel; special family friends: Vincent Francis and Janet Krigger; as well as survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins too numerous to mention.

Relatives and friends are respectfully requested to attend the first viewing held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, April 12, at the Alexander A. Farrelly Justice Center.

A second viewing will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 13, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. The service will follow at 10 a.m. Interment will be at the Eastern Cemetery in Smith Bay.
