Ann Hughes Soper, 67, passes

Wife, Mother, GG, sister, friend, successful businesswoman , teacher, and adventurer, Ann Hughes Soper, surrounded by friends and family, lost her fierce battle with cancer at her home in Lyme, CT on April 23, 2018 at age 67.

She “balanced” her life, well before the term was coined, with her high school sweetheart and partner in all things, Douglas Lawrence Soper, husband of 45 years.

Together they shared adventures from their pioneer life in Maine to sailing the Caribbean aboard Antilles with their 4 children, Nell, Molly, Corey, and Lindsey. Eventually settling between St. John, USVI and Lyme, CT where their lives were equally rooted.

Her compassion, contagious momentum, selflessness, nurturing, and greatness touched countless people along her life’s path. She cherished her grandchildren, Parker and Cortland Forbes and Chloe and Margot Green, bringing amazing adventures to their young lives that they will remember forever.

To know her was to be better for it. Without her, our lives will never be as full as when she was in them.

A celebration of life will be held in Essex CT at the Essex Corinthian Yacht Club Sunday the 29th 3-5:30. A Celebration of life to be held in St.John, date to be determined.
