The annual Taxi Medallion Auction will take place in December on all three islands, according to a press release issued by the management and staff of the Virgin Islands Office of Veterans Affairs in conjunction with the V.I. Taxi Association.
Applications are to be picked up at the Taxicab Commission’s Office in either district during regular working hours between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. They must then be taken to the V.I. Office of Veterans Affairs in that district for verification of eligibility as a U.S. Virgin Islands veteran on the island for which the bid is scheduled. Bid forms must be deposited in the bid box no later than 10 a.m. on the day of the auction.
Bid applicants must be present at the time of the auction or assign someone via notarized letter to be present on their behalf. This person will only be authorized to sit in for at the auction, nothing else. Bid envelopes will be publicly opened in the presence of everyone in attendance on the date and times indicated
Auction dates, times and locations are as follows:
• St. Thomas: 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec 12, at the Taxicab Commission Office, Sub Base
• St John: 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec 13, at St. John Administrator’s Office
• St. Croix: 11 a.m., Friday, Dec 14, at St. Croix Taxicab Commission Office, Estate Richmond
The minimum bid for St. Thomas and St. John is $20,000 and $8,000 for St. Croix.
