Audrey Leone Creque Lewis Dies at 97

Audrey Leone Creque Lewis, affectionately known as “Mother Lewis,” died on Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Lucinda Millin Home on St. Thomas, U.S.V.I. Audrey was 97 as of June 18.

Minister Lewis’ funeral will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Oasis Church of God of Prophecy at C-5 Hoffman — by the Donoe intersection — on St. Thomas, U.S.V.I. Tributes will occur from 10 to 11 a.m., with the Homegoing Celebration beginning at 11 a.m. The interment will be at Eastern Cemetery in Smith Bay.

All the family and friends of Audrey Leone Creque Lewis are advised of her passing. She became a young widow when her late husband, Leroy Lewis, passed. She was the fifth of ten siblings and has left behind the last sibling, her devoted sister Aldrena Meyers.

She is survived by a host of nephews and nieces: Albert Charles, Alvin Francis, Andre Francis, Calvin Francis, Cecil Francis, Rudolph Francis, Wilbert Francis, Wilford Francis, Elbert Proctor, Phyllis Gifft-Almestica, Fernalla Charles, Carmen Francis, Berenice Gifft, Beryl Hamm, Dhiana Meyers, Michelle Meyers, Carol Tomar and Eunice Wells.

She has five godchildren for whom she lovingly cared, and her church family was family indeed. There are some intentionally shared special relational bonds with her, such as her father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter and grandchildren.

Her sense of humor and kindheartedness can never be forgotten, and her life’s impact will be experienced like ripples of the ocean forever. Though she had no biological children, the host of children she nurtured will Rise Up Always and Call Her Blessed.
