Bernice Adele Hodge-Turnbull, also known as “Ms. Miller,” of Frenchman’s Cay, Tortola, and St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, died on Sept. 23 at her home. She was 73 years old.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Turnbull Jr; son, Elton (Eddie) Turnbull; adopted daughter, Shirma George; sisters: Lolita (BorBor) Hodge-George and Doreen Owens; brothers: Kelvin, Wilfred, Godfrey and Charles (Andy) Hodge; grand-children: Charnice, Chanelle and Ean Turnbull; daughter-in-law, Tanya Boone; adopted brothers: Rico June, Dr. Rhonald (Otty) Hyndman, Joel (Joel) Hyndman and Conrad Skelton; adopted sisters: Genevieve (Jenny) Hyndman and Linda Hyndman-Lewis; aunts: Margaretta Skelton-Thomas and Leona Skelton-Mactavious; sisters-in-law: Trelawney (Tre), Sybil and Shirley Hodge, Wanda Huntington-Hodge, Eleanor Hardy, Vadis Springette, Icena Carty, Consie Turnbull and Helen Phillips; and brothers-in-law: Jesse Owens, Raymond (Ray) Turnbull, Aubrey Turnbull, Adolbert (Dolly) Turnbull and Larry Pond.
She is also survived by nieces: Myrthlyn (Myrtle) Hodge, Anelta Turnbull, Gail Hodge-Sawney, Shireen Hodge-Brown, Shanika Davis, Theresa Penn, Danielle Samuel, Kia Hodge-Kelly and Lisa Penn; nephews: Dale Hamm, Dave Hodge, Shawn Hodge, Jalen Hodge, Carter Hodge, Khary Hodge, Kareem Hodge, Dashan Hodge, Doron Hodge, Jesse Owens II and Deryck Penn; special nieces: Merle Todman, E. Pam Springette, Ameka Hydman Shelcy Hodge, Avalinda Freeman, Persia Royale, Dian Forbes and Vernette Smith; special godchildren: Bernadette McKelly, Shane Benjamin, Lebron Brown, Persia Royale, Cecilia Lettsome-Evans, Hashim Richards, Maddie Hodge, Tajuana (TJ) Callwood-Brown, Nakita Stevens, Elsa Smith and many more too many to mention; special and cousins: Murlene VanBeverhoudt, Marilyn Krigger, and Eldridge Donovan and family.

There will be a viewing from 3-5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 12, at Turnbull’s Funeral Home on St. Thomas.
The funeral and burial will take place on Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Zion Hill Methodist Church, West End, Tortola.
Viewing from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Service at 10 a.m.
Interment will follow at the Hodge Family Burial Ground, Frenchman’s Cay, Tortola.
The Native Son Ferry will depart Red Hook to West End, Tortola, at 7:45 a.m. and return to Red Hook at 4 p.m.
Ground transportation will be provided.
