Bryan Grants Leave for Non-Essential GVI Employees; VIHA and All Public Schools Also to Close

In his first official act as Chief Executive of the Virgin Islands, Governor Albert Bryan Jr. issued a proclamation Monday granting administrative leave to all non-essential government employees in recognition of the post-Inaugural Ceremonies on St. Croix, on Tuesday, Jan. 8, and in St. Thomas-St. John District on Wednesday, Jan. 9.

School Closures Announced for Inaugural Events
Public schools in the St. Croix District will be closed for instruction on Tuesday, Jan. 8, and schools in the St. Thomas-St. John District will be closed for instruction on Wednesday, Jan. 9, according to a press release issued by Acting Commissioner Dionne Wells-Hedrington.

The Office of the Governor announced closures to accommodate scheduled inaugural events.

VIHA, Public Housing Community Offices to Close for Inaugural Events
The Virgin Islands Housing Authority’s (VIHA) Central Offices and Public Housing Community Management Offices on St. Croix will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 8, and its St. Thomas offices will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 9 for inaugural events.

All offices will resume normal business hours on Thursday, Jan. 10.
