Cedric R. Simmonds, also known as “Tumba” and “Steady,” of Estate St. John died on Aug. 11.

He was preceded in death by Corliss Lenore Roberts-Simmonds and Cecil Thorval Simmonds Sr.

He is survived by his sons: Hashim, Jahseem and Joseph Simmonds; daughters: Chalima, Michika, Chenelle, Sheniqua and Kwameka Simmonds; grandchildren: Chanesia “Tonka” Ferris, Anaizah James, Skylar and Dillan Gay, Jazmin and Damian Matoo-Simmonds, Kimani, Kiarra and Shana Perdomo; daughter-in-law: Kamilia Matoo; sons-in-law: Darius Clarke and Juan Santos; sisters: Agnes, Althea, Carmen, Celia and Angela Simmonds, and Laureen Simmonds-Berry; brothers: Cecil Jr., Clarence, Clifton, Alton, Arnold, Michael and Clinton Simmonds; sister-in-law: Becky Butcher Simmonds; aunts: Eurita Donovan, Myrtle Roberts and Joyanne Aarndell; and uncles: Elroy and Gustave Roberts.

He is also survived by nieces: Agatha “Aggie” Felix, Priscilla “Prissy” Williams-Mottley, Lereiz Canton, Carmiesia and Tiffany Straker, Camiellia Roberts, Amara Bailey, Jaihda and Sarah Brock, Lucynthia Simmonds-Boomer, Louise Edwards-Morgan, Shereen Simmonds–Mack, Khendrah, Kheyandra, Dainya, Nifi-Tia, Anique, Cynoia and Khailiah Simmonds; and nephews: Carl “Doggie Brown/ Puchie” Schou, Clarence “ Ico” and Earl “ Pepeno” Williams, Jahmar Jean-Marie, Aajah Lattin Malike Coates, Mala’kai Canton, Louis Edwards, Glendon Henry, Franciso and Evan Brock, Michael, Randal, Kaheil, Kaseem, Kamal, Kaleel, Kendall, De’Ondre, Kylan, Kyani, Rabel, Akeil, Kamua and Ashoy Simmonds.

There will be a viewing at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 6, at Lord God of Sabaoth Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
