CHS Senior to Compete in Bowling World Cup in Las Vegas

LaMonique Berrios

LaMonique Berrios, a senior at St. Croix Central High School, will compete in the 54th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup that will be held Nov. 4-11 in Las Vegas. She will leave for Nevada on Nov. 3.

The 17-year-old Berrios is considered the top female bowler in the Virgin Islands. She qualified for the high-profile tournament after defeating three other female bowlers over a 16-game span.

Her highest score came in 2016 when she bowled a 279 — almost a perfect score.

Last summer, she participated in the Junior Gold competition in Dallas, where she ranked 94th out of 859 female bowlers.

Berrios began bowling during a family vacation at age seven and immediately took to the sport. She plans to continue bowling when she attends Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, next fall, to study computer engineering.
