Crime Stoppers Continues to Offer Rewards During Gun Violence Awareness Month

On Thursday April 28, 2022, at 8:56 p.m. a citizen called 911 and reported shots being fired in the Bovoni area, in the vicinity of The Superette, St. Thomas, VI. Police found a black, unresponsive male who appeared to have sustained several gunshot wounds. He was taken to the Schneider Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. On Friday, April 29, 2022 contact was made with the next of Kin who positively identified the male victim as 43-year old Darryl T. Jennings.

On May 16, 2022, at 8:48p.m., an off-duty Officer reported hearing shots fired in the Profit Hills Housing Community (Harvey Project) area. Upon making a check, officers discovered shell casings and blood.

At 9 p.m., Hospital Security officers at Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital reported a gunshot victim arrived at JFL via private vehicle. At 9:07p.m., detectives at the JFL reported another gunshot victim with gunshot injuries arriving in a private vehicle.

Andres Ponce Jr, 23-years-old, was pronounced dead by a JFL emergency room medical attendant as a result of multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Parents of the deceased were notified as next of kin. The other man was treated for his injuries sustained from the shooting and remains in stable condition.

Preliminary investigation revealed the shootings took place in 2 separate locations in the Harvey Project.
