Crime Stoppers Seeks Help Solving Crimes

April 29, 8:52 p.m.

While the 2023 Carnival Festivities were in full swing, citizens contacted 911 to report multiple shots fired in the area of Norre Gade on St. Thomas in the vicinity of the Frederick Lutheran Church.

Responding officers were dispatched to the area of Norre Gade, and upon their arrival, contact was made with a Black male who appeared to have suffered at least one gunshot wound and was unresponsive. Emergency Medical Technicians also arrived at the scene and checked the male for vital signs. At approximately 8:52 p.m., EMTs concluded that the male did not have any signs of life. The man was identified by next of kin as 54-year-old Alrick M. Thomas.

April 29, 10:00 p.m.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau on St. Thomas is investigating a third-degree assault that occurred inside of the Carnival Village. The 911 Emergency Call Center was notified that a male was assaulted at the Carnival Village (Fort Christian Parking Lot) near the V.I. Legislature bus stop. The male was subsequently transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.

Investigators met with the male victim at the SRMC, who said that he was inside of the Carnival Village when he was approached and assaulted by a male who he knows. The male victim said after he was stabbed, he walked outside near the bus stop, where he notified a police officer of the incident. The victim sustained three puncture wounds from the assault; one to the left chest area and two to the stomach.
