The Cruz Bay ferry dock renovations, which started last spring, were initially projected to be finished this month. Port Authority governing board members learned Wednesday that the completion date is now expected to be June.

Board members expressed relief that the completion is still expected before St. John’s summer carnival.

Carnival this year runs June 30 through July 4.

Work at the Loredon L. Boynes Sr. Dock has restricted access to the passenger lounge and part of the dock.

At its recent meeting, the board approved a change order to contractors Rodriguez and Garland not to exceed $40,000 for additional work.

The Legislature appropriated $1.5 million appropriation for the project. A little over $400,000 has been paid to Rodriguez and Garland, who awarded the contract through a competitive bidding process.

The change order raises the overall contract value from $1,370,973 to $1,410,934. The work includes installing a pressurized water tank in the restroom, squaring and adding new concrete columns, and covering all concrete columns in local stone style. The changes were said to comply with the historic preservation aesthetic of the area.
