In his first international outdoor tournament of the year, Nicholas D’Amour of the Virgin Islands took fourth place at the Kahraman Bagatir Spring Arrows Archery Tournament in Antalya, Turkey.
In the bronze medal match against Clement Jacquey of France, D’Amour came back from a 3-1 deficit to take the lead in the fourth end 5-3. In the fifth and final end, Jacquey won, to tie it up 5-5. In a one-arrow shoot-off, D’Amour lost by a centimeter, as Jacquey’s arrow was closer to the center. This is a great start to the World Cup season.
In the gold medal match between Marcus D’Almeida of Brazil and Mete Gazoz of Turkey, Gazoz, the reigning Olympic gold medalist prevailed in a close five-set match 6-4 over D’Almeida of Brazil. D’Almeida is currently ranked number one in the World.

The next event is the European Grand Prix in Lilleshall, Great Britain. There will be more than 300 athletes from over 40 countries in this world-class event.
The first leg of the European Grand Prix in Lilleshall, England, April 3-8, will be followed by a trip back to Antalya, Turkey, for the World Cup – Stage 1, April 18-23. All of these events and the World Cups to follow are critical world-ranking events in the lead-up to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
