Health Reports 30th COVID-Related Death in the USVI

A 72-year-old woman on St. Thomas was confirmed by the USVI’s Department of Health as the territory’s 30th COVID-19 related death, the DOH announced in a news release issued Tuesday.

The woman’s name was not released in accordance with department policy.

According to the most recent data, posted Saturday on the Department of Health’s website, there were 93 active cases of COVID-19 on St. Thomas, 15 on St. Croix and one on St. John.

The department’s newsletter said getting the COVID-19 vaccine can prevent severe illness and death. An appointment for a vaccination can by scheduled by calling 340-777-8227 or going online to the department’s website.

The DOH Community Vaccination Centers also accepts walk-ins.

In its news release, Health urged residents to continue to follow these precautions to slow the spread of COVID-19: Stay at home, practice social distancing, wear a mask when in the company of others outside of those in your household, clean frequently used areas thoroughly, and wash your hands often with soap and warm water.
