Doreen Hansen Bernard died unexpectedly on July 17 at the Gov. Juan F Luis Hospital. She was born on Aug. 22, 1944, to the late Elnez Hansen and Almeal Matthews.
She is survived by her five children: Darrell Heywood, Levell Gaskin, Olivia Bernard, Orelia Bernard-Moss, Angelo Bernard Jr. and Ray Anthony Edwards (deceased); and grandchildren: Hakeem Newton, Khitasha Heywood, Jasheem, Jahkeem and Shaheem Anduze, Demanie Cruse, Omani Laurencin, Inga and Dakota Bernard, Jahniqua, Jahnisha and Jahmeilia Edwards.
She is also survived by great-grandchildren: Azaelia Newton, Jeremiah Heywood, Nova Anduze and Jahee Barlow; brothers: Al Hansen and Alphonso Hansen; sisters: Mary Richards, Olive Bates, Juanita Hansen, Yvonne Scott (deceased) and Villetta Maria Hansen (deceased); and nephews: Winston Andrews, Raymond, Dean and Rudy Bates, Tony Brown, Rodney Scott, Misha Williams, Miral Williams, Lenny, Lonny, Cale and Dale Hansen.
Other survivors include nieces: Sharon Richards, Diane and Renea Bates, Grace Scott, Karen Scott-Boatwright, Marsha Williams-Harris, Marie Encarnacion, Ninette and Jamel; son-in-law, Len Moss; godchildren: Morris Greenidge, Adrian Milligan, Laniqua Brow and Natasha John-Lewis; special friends: Elizabeth Labeet, Bernadette Williams, Vicky JohnLewis-Brow, Maria Daley and Madona Abraham; as well as other family and friends too numerous to mention
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 8, at the Central S.D.A Church in Grove Place. The viewing will take place at 9 a.m. followed by a service at 10 a.m. The interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
