DPNR Celebrates National Boating Safety Month

The V.I. Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) has announced that the Division of Environmental Enforcement will be celebrating National Boating Safety Month in May.

This month-long initiative will provide residents the opportunity to receive free safety checks of vessels and to ensure compliance with both local and federal regulations, according to a press release from DPNR Commissioner Nominee Jean-Pierre L. Oriol.

Safety checks will be held on St. Croix on the following days and locations:
Wednesday, May 8 — Altona Lagoon Boat Ramp
Saturday, May 18 — Gallows Bay Boat Ramp
Wednesday, May 22 — Frederiksted Boat Ramp
Wednesday, May 29 — Frederiksted Boat Ramp

Safety checks will be held on St. Thomas/St. John on the following days and locations:
Tuesday, May 14 — American Yacht Harbor Marina
Wednesday, May 15 — Saga Haven Marina
Thursday, May 26 — Crown Bay Marina

All Safety checks are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and are free. These checks will be open to both the recreational and commercial boating communities.
