DPW Offering Summer Transportation Internships for Diverse Groups

The V.I. Department of Public Works (DPW) is offering a paid internship opportunity for minorities and diverse students. The Summer Transportation Internship Program for Diverse Groups (STIPDG) provides a unique opportunity to get hands-on public service experience while discovering the challenges and advancements of the U.S. transportation infrastructure. This program falls under the U.S. Department of Transportation.

This program is a critical part of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) efforts to increase diverse representation in its workforce.

Students from minority populations are encouraged to apply. Through an internship at DOT, you will build your professional network, develop vital skills and learn about exciting opportunities. Stipend Details

  • Roundtrip airfare and fully-furnished housing provided (if your permanent residence is more than 50 miles away). Only if in- person internship is offered, TBD.
  • Undergraduate students receive $4,000; graduate and law school students receive $5,000.

Eligibility Requirements

In order to apply, you will need to:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Be currently enrolled full-time in a degree-granting program of study at an accredited U.S. institution of higher education as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (please visit https://www.ed.gov/accreditation to verify your school and program of study).
  • Be a junior or senior for the upcoming fall semester if you are an undergraduate student (applicants from Junior, Tribal or Community College institutions must have completed their first year).
  • Be entering second or third year in the upcoming fall semester if you are a law school student.

The program runs 10 weeks, June 7-Aug. 13, 2021 (tentative dates).
