E. Jemima Parris

The family of E. Jemima Parris died on Friday, Feb. 16, on St Thomas, USVI. She was 68.

The survivors who remember her fondly include her aunt, Josephine Christmas on St Kitts; cousins: Delores ‘Patsy’ Boland (St. Maarten) and family, David Christmas and family on Anguilla, Rev. Morna Christmas-Frazer and family, on Tortola, BVI, Dr. Donald Christmas and family in New Jersey, Rev. Mark Christmas and family on Nevis, Dr. Maxim Christmas and family on Jamaica, Dr. Derwin Christmas and family in the United Kingdom, Danielle Wiggins, Michele Jacobs, Delyth Morton, Domina Brisport and their families on St Kitts; children of the late Thomas and Caroline Christmas and their families, Sinetta Davis, Ruth Hughes, Frank, Calvet, Rudolph and Reginald Christmas and their families, Cynthia De Silva and family in Bermuda, and Jacquelin Peters in North Carolina.

She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Henry Matthew in the Bahamas; nephew and niece: Julian and Lisa in the Bahamas; great nieces: Esther, Barbara and Judy in the United Kingdom; extended family: Sylvia Isaac, James and extended Warner family from Tabernacle, Jacklyn Benjamin and Family in Basseterre, Wingrove, Nigel and Kenrick Williams (St. Kitts and USA), the Hodges and extended family of Anguilla; and close friends: Jhoy Caines, Dale Morton, Janice Hodge Louis, Florisel ‘Betty’ Welsh, Corinne Byron, Jaqueline Hazel Leader, Arlene Kitson, Nurseen Davis, Patricia Adams, Carmen David, Lorna Mulley, Denise Henderson, Cardin Gumbs and Essington Veira.

Other close friends include Lucille Beazer, Rev. Helen Mallalieu-Maurose and their families on St Thomas/St John, USVI, Vernarine and Malcolm Williams in New Jersey, Bronte Newton, Roselia Hodge, Anita Ruan and their families in Anguilla, Bronwen Glasford in Barbados; Louise Tannock and Family in Bermuda, Teresa Smith, Alphonso Bridgewater, the Godwins, the Elmes and their families in St Kitts; church families at Christ Church Methodist Church, St. Thomas and Zion Moravian Church, St Kitts; as well as former teachers of Charlotte Amalie High School and members of the past UVI choirs under the direction of Dr. Gloria Quinlan.

Also fondly remembering her are a wide circle of relatives, friends and godchildren too numerous to mention.

Special thanks to Kirsten Greenaway and the staff of La Resulta Nursing Facility, doctors, nurses and other staff of the Roy Schneider General Hospital, especially the Medical Ward, Dr. Hunt and staff of the Caribbean Kidney Center (all in St. Thomas), the residents of the Heritage Hills Condo Complex, Jhoy Caines and Dale Morton.

A viewing and tributes will begin at 9 a.m. A Thanksgiving Service for the late E. Jemima Parris will be held at the Christchurch Methodist Church, Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 14.

A Thanksgiving Memorial Service will also be held at the Zion Moravian Church, Basseterre, St Kitts, at 2 p.m., Monday, March 18. Tributes will begin at 1 p.m.

An offering will be taken in lieu of flowers/wreaths.
