Elreth Alrick Thomas Sr.

Elreth Alrick Thomas Sr., known to most as “Dozen” or “Twelve,” passed away at the age of 77 on Tuesday, Nov. 8, while hospitalized in Miami, Fla.

During his lifetime, Dozen worked in both the U.S. and British Virgin Islands in a variety of roles in both the construction and tourism industries.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cheryl Thomas (Williams); daughters: Ginger Thomas Petway and Chantel Thomas; sons: Elreth “Skippy” Thomas Jr. and Joey Thomas; grandchildren: Ashlee Fields, Zaire Thomas, Angeline Petway, Jeremiah Petway, Javonne Thomas, JoDeen Thomas, LeQuanna Thomas, Juelz Thomas and Demorne Jack; and siblings: Esmie Potter, Caroline Thomas-Jennings, Ralph Thomas and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Dozen was predeceased by his brothers: John Thomas, Leonard Thomas, Regardo “Gardo” Thomas, Reuben “Bowtie” Thomas, Wellington Thomas-Jennings, Albert “Beaver” Tomar; and sisters: Izza Ottley, Inez Lettsome and Jane Thomas.

Visiting hours will be held from 4-6 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Turnbull’s Funeral Home. The celebration of life will take place on Friday, Dec. 2, at the New Herrnhut Moravian Church, 4011 New Herrnhut. Visiting hours will begin at 9 a.m. with the service immediately following at 10 a.m. Interment will be at the Eastern Cemetery located at No. 8 Smith Bay Road.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Dozen’s honor to the New Herrnhut Moravian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 7056, St. Thomas, VI  00801-7056.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Turnbull’s Funeral Home located at 3185 Crown Bay No. 10.
