Elroy Leonard Sr. Dies at 80

Elroy Leonard Sr.

Elroy Leonard Sr., also known as “1002” (pronounced “ten -O-two”), died on Jan. 18 at Schneider Regional Medical Center. He was 80 years old.

Elroy Leonard Sr. is survived by his sons:                              Elroy Leonard Jr. and Jerry Leonard; daughters: Denise Leonard and Terry Leonard Williams; grandchildren: Jourdan, Jennifer, John, Andrew, Brandon, Tiffany and Jerold; nine great-grandchildren; sisters: Daisy and Marilyn; brothers: Mario, Leslie and Charles; daughter-in-law, Diana Leonard; sisters-in-law: Eunice, Marian and Helen; and nieces: Carmen Staley, Yvette Staub, Clarice, Althea and Marcia.

He is also survived by nephews: Jerry Brown, Charles, Cedric, Leslie, Rolon and Freddie; special cousins: Dr. Marilyn Krigger, Rudy Leonard, Shane Benjamin, Cyril Benjamin, Carmen Mc Kelly, Sylvia Leonard-Frazer, Carvelle Leonard and Jan Robinson; significant other, Glenelda Grant; and related families: the Leonard, Frazer, Ritter, Hyman, McKelly, Skelton, Harrigan, Benjamin, Christopher and Hodge families.

Other survivors include friends: Winston Harrigan, Venet Bohmme, Pedrito Lanclos Sr., Gilbert, Felecia Niles, Earl and Sylvia Vanterpool, Ceciley Robinson, Shari Mae Lewis, Carl Isaac, Lucinda Barton, Mary Thomas, Rudolph Phillips, Mr. and Mrs. Glaston Phillips, Raphael Christopher, Kenneth De Gout, Desmond Hercules, Judith Jones, Charles Payne, Pedrito Lanclos Sr., Aethra Matthias, Alvin and Melvin Boynes, Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Arnold, Annette Hendrickson and Kwamesha Roper; as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a first viewing from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 17, at Celestial Chapel of Dan Hurley Home for Funerals.

A second viewing will begin at 9 a.m. and be followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 18, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. Interment will be at Eastern Cemetery.
