Eric Durand Dies at 62

It is with deep sadness, that we announce the sudden death of our beloved, Eric Durand, age 62. Eric, better known as “Antoine,” Blanc or “DA,” is from Grand Bay, Dominica, and resided on St John, USVI.  He died on Aug. 18 at his residence.

Eric is preceded in death by his parents: Perryman Durand and Anora Bellot Durand; and his sister, Fransica “Rosette” Durand.

Eric is survived by his sisters: Josephine “Monette” Durand Martin, Camelia Chinnery and Vencilla “Mona” Matthew; uncle, Turner Bellot; aunts: Lestie Bellot and Pamela Bellot; and nephews: Lenin Mongerie, Dale Matthew, Randy Durand, Claudius Martin, Frank Martin, Gilbert Hilaire, Jimmy Sanford and Peterson Durand.

He is also survived by nieces: Carmona Leerdam, Eboni Chinnery, Shelley Chinnery-Antoine, Samantha Durand, Fifi Martin, Marlen Martin, Antoinette Sanford, Maritza Sanford, Eugenia Durand, Janette Durand and Rosama Durand; brothers-in-law: Sherman Chinnery, Samuel Matthew and Francois Martin; close cousins: Deidre Jules, Helen Vigilant, Victoria Ducreay, Antoinette “Osie” Stuart, Eustace Thomas and Tricia Bellot; close friends: Jerry Lakes and Anny Thomas.

Other survivors include relatives and friends: Wilbur Jules, Lister Alexander, Nadine Blaize, Dorothy Cardette, Arlett William, Lixima Defoe, Doret Grell and Madeleine Angol.

Eric will be missed by the Bellot family, the Durand family, and other relatives/friends, who are too numerous to mention, from Dominica, Guadeloupe, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands.

A life beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.

The viewing will take place at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church on St. John, USVI.
