Fatal Shooting of 19-Year-Old St. Thomas Man Under Investigation

A 19-year-old St. Thomas man was found shot to death in Old Fredensborg on St. Croix, the V.I. Police Department reported Friday.

On Friday, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a telephone call from a male citizen who was walking in the pathway between old Fredensborg and Candido Guadalupe Housing Community when he came upon the body of an unresponsive Black male lying in the grassy path, according to the police report.

CIB Detectives were dispatched to the scene and on arrival, the unresponsive male appeared to be bleeding from several open wounds to his body. The forensics team located several spent shell casings on the scene. A canvas of the area was made for the possible witnesses with negative results, the police report stated.

The investigation led the detectives to someone who knew the victim and contact was made with the victim’s family on St. Thomas. The victim was identified by next of kin as 19-year-old Jamoi Edward Arthur of Contant, St. Thomas, the report stated.

He was transported to the morgue by the Department of Justice Medical Legal Investigator, police said.
