Felipe Viera Rosa Dies at 89

Felipe Viera Rosa, also known as “Phillip,” of Estate La Grande Princesse died on Dec. 8. He was 89 years old.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosalia Rosa; father, Manuel Viera; son, Felipe Viera Jr.; sister, Ana Viera; brothers: Antonio Viera, Manuel Viera and Marcial Viera; and brother-in-law, Jose Santos.

He is survived by his wife, Felipa Santos Viera; daughters: Carmen M. Viera, Rosa Viera, Norma Viera and Julia Viera Morales; sons: Luis Felipe Viera Sr. and Emmanuel Viera; and grandchildren: Felix, Raisa, Hector Osorio, Christina Richardson, Carla, Shomara Sanes, Luis Felipe Jr., Annalisa Viera, Gloria Morales and LeiLani Viera.

He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren; sisters: Gumita Hardcastle, Feicita Viera, Angela Viera and Saturina De Chabert; daughters-in-law: Zulma Torres and Yajaira Flores Viera; sons-in-law: Candito Morales and Feliciano Cintron; brother-in-law, Jose Resto; sisters-in-law: Luz Viera, Lydia Santos, Artemia Viera and Juana C. Velez; and godson, José Manuel Perez.

Other survivors include special friends: Dr. Ralph De Chabert, Gerard Luz A. James II, the De Chabert family, Shuster family, Nelthroppe family, Lawaetz family, Gasperi family, Fremont Canton, Canton family, Steve O’Dea, August Richardson, Moe Mustafa, Quality Grocers staff, the St. Joseph Catholic Church members and Athil Joseph; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

The family requests those in attendance wear festive colors.

The funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 20, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.
