Fine Wines, Imported Snacks and More at Gallows Point Gift and Gourmet

Gallows Point Gift and Gourmet owners David and Shannon Pursley.

The small sundry shop at Gallows Point Resort is under new ownership and its revamped shelves now offer an impressive selection of fine wines, imported cheeses, snacks and more.

Shannon and David Pursley bought the former Every ’Ting in the midst of high season and have been busy meeting the needs of Gallows Point Resort guests and locals alike.

“Things have been going really well,” said David Pursley. “We’ve been super busy since we took over in January and things have just been great.”

The new owners have expanded the store’s jewelry and gift selections and are the sole St. John carrier of the sturdy oil cloth Scout bags. There are also new T-shirt styles and a wide array of soaps and candles.

“We have added new gift lines like Scout beach bags, some of which are insulated and others that would make great ‘laundry-day’ bags,” said Shannon Pursley. “Also new are several island-inspired gift lines, such as Michel Design Works soaps, candles and note-cards which make great hostess gifts.”

While expanding the store’s gift selections, the Pursleys were sure to include some Virgin Islands-produced products as well.

“We’re also offering more locally made products like glasses by Stepho and the full range of Cruzan Rum flavors,” said Shannon Pursley.

New gourmet food snacks include Marcona almonds imported from Spain, dried salami, Matiz tortas and tapenade and a selection of fine cheeses like Brie and smoked Gouda. Those with a bit larger appetites should check out the selection of fresh sandwiches from Sam and Jack’s deli.

“We’re now offering sandwiches from Sam and Jack’s which I pick up each morning so they’re always fresh,” said David Pursley.

“The sandwiches are great for guests to just grab and take to the beach,” said Shannon Pursley.

While the store already offers light morning items like coffee, bagels and smears, the Pursleys plan to make Gallows Point Gift and Gourmet the place to pick up breakfast.

“By this summer, we plan to offer home-made muffins, sweet bread and breakfast burritos,” said Shannon Pursley.

Be sure to keep the store in mind for all those provisioning needs too, Shannon Pursley added.

Gallows Point Gift and Gourmet also offers full excursion bookings, for everything from snorkel trips to sailing charters.

“We are committed to making sure guests have a wonderful visit and we are fortunate to have fellow-islanders who are as committed as we are to making sure St. John is the premier destination of choice,” said David Pursley.

“We moved to St. John to be part of a small community where we felt we could make a positive difference,” said Shannon Pursely. “Tourism is all of our livlihoods and we are all in this together.”

And the Pursleys speak from experience. Shannon Pursley is a University of the Virgin Islands graduate and has put in stints at both A.H. Riise and West Indies Corporation. David Pursley brings 20 years of experience in the international shipping industry and logistics as well as a love for hiking and fishing.
