FirstBank Donates $15,000 to Three Local Non-profits

To commemorate the holiday season, FirstBank launched a special initiative through which it donated funding, normally used towards social activities for employees and clients, to nonprofits across the four regions in which it operates: United States Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Florida.

Locally, funding for the “One with Virgin Islands” holiday initiative was allocated to the Boys and Girls Club St. Thomas-St. John, St. John Community Foundation and My Brothers Table on St. Croix. Each entity received a $5,000 donation.

“We are extremely proud to provide these donations on behalf of our employees and customers. This was an extremely difficult year for many in our community, and these contributions allow us to continue bringing hope to those who need it most, especially during this holiday season,” said Valdamier Collens, senior vice president and USVI regional director of FirstBank.

On St. Thomas, the Boys and Girls Club serves children ages 6 to 18 years old and helps them improve their lives by building self-esteem and developing values and skills during their critical periods of growth.

On St. John, the St. John Community Foundation partners with local non-profit agencies and facilitates numerous services within the community, including the Dial-A-Ride and Meals on Wheels Programs.

On St. Croix, My Brothers Table, which was established in 1989 and is based in the Frederiksted area, serves daily meals to the less fortunate in the community; each day the entity feeds more than 100 people.

In 2020, donations totaling more than $60,000 were provided to 12 nonprofits in the USVI through the bank’s community reinvestment program.
