Friends of Virgin Islands National Park Offering Summer Jobs and College Scholarships

The Friends of Virgin Islands National Park is offering the Noble Samuel and Jeffrey Matheny scholarships to Virgin Islands youth for the 2023/24 academic year.  The scholarships are available to Virgin Island youth attending college (the University of the Virgin Islands or another university) in a field of study contributing to natural resource management, protection and conservation. The application deadline is May 15.

Summer Jobs and Training

— Summer Trail Crew

Summer job opportunity for Virgin Island high school students (ages 15 to 18).  Summer Trail Crew is a six-week program running from June 26 to Aug. 4.

— Mangrove Restoration Crew

Friends of Virgin Islands National Park is looking for four crew members to implement the planting of 750 mangroves at Annaberg and Leinster Bay.  This is a part-time position with up to 40 hours a week for the month of June 2023.  The day-to-day activities will include hauling materials, digging holes, installing fences, watering trees and cutting vegetation.

— Swim Instructor Training and Jobs

Become a Learn to Swim instructor. Free instructor training will be given on Saturday, May 6, at Brewers Bay. Sign up for the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Class and teach Learn to Swim summer camp sessions from June to early August.
