Governor-elect Bryan to Grant Administrative Leave; Inaugural Events Scheduled

Governor-elect Bryan has announced he will grant administrative leave to non-essential government employees.

“Governor-elect Bryan intends to issue a proclamation on Monday declaring administrative leave for all non-essential government employees on Tuesday, Jan. 8, for the island of St. Croix in recognition of the inaugural activities.

He intends to also declare Administrative Leave on Wednesday, January 9th for all non-essential government employees on the islands of St. Thomas and St. John in recognition of the inaugural activities on St. John that day. The Governor-elect cannot issue a proclamation until Monday afternoon, but that is his intent,” Karl Knight, transition chair, said.

Sunday, January 6, 2019
St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands
3 p.m. — Unity Praise and Worship Service at City of Refuge Worship Center, Estate Barren Spot (0pen to the public)

Monday, January 7, 2019
St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands
8 a.m. — Inaugural Mass at Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral, Charlotte Amalie (invitation only)
10:30 a.m. — Inaugural Ceremony at David Monsanto Bandstand in Emancipation Garden (open to the public)
12:30 p.m. — Military Parade at Veterans Drive (open to the public)
1 p.m. to 4 p.m. — Open House Reception at Fort Christian (open to the public)
8 p.m. to Midnight — Inaugural Ball at Mark C. Marin Center, Antilles School (ticket required)
*Parking for the St. Thomas Inaugural Ball will be at the WICO Dock in Havensight near Virgin’s Haven. There will be shuttles from the parking lot to the MCM Center.

11 a.m. — Military Parade in Frederiksted (open to the public)

3 p.m. to 6 p.m. — Open House Reception at Government House in Christiansted (open to the public)
9 p.m. to 1 a.m. — Inaugural Ball at Tradewinds Flight Center (New Bohlke International Airways Hangar) Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (ticket required)
*Parking for the St. Croix Inaugural Ball will be at the Randall “Doc” James Racetrack. There will be a shuttle transporting attendees from the parking area to the hangar.

7 p.m. to Midnight — Inaugural Ball at The Grand VIC in Cruz Bay (ticket required)
*Ferry service will be available for the St. John Ball from Red Hook. The vessel is the “Westin Breeze,” and it departs Red Hook at 6:45 p.m. Return time from Cruz Bay is 12:30 a.m. Individuals must present a ball ticket to board the vessel.

*Tickets to the Inaugural Balls are available for $95. Tickets are on sale at the following outlets:
St. Croix: The Shoe Bar, Jane’s Bridal Boutique and Urban Threadz.
St. John: Chelsea Drug Store, Nella’s Lounge and Connections of St. John.
St. Thomas: Sole to Soul, Urban Threadz and the Bryan/Roach Campaign Headquarters on Norre Gade from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., daily.
