Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. has nominated former Magistrate Carolyn Hermon-Purcell for a seat on the Casino Control Commission for a five-year term as a representative from the St. Thomas-St. John District.
Former Judge Magistrate Hermon-Purcell is member of the Virgin Islands Bar Association, and she served on the bench from 2013-2021. She also was in private practice for a number of years before being appointed to the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands and as a staff researcher at the Legislature of the Virgin Islands.
Hermon-Percell will fill a vacancy created in the St. Thomas-St. John District and will enable the commission to have a quorum with the departure of former Senator Usie Richards in the St. Croix District, who said he will step down when his term ends at the end of February 2022.
