Guillermina Ayala Dies at 88

Guillermina Ayala

Guillermina Ayala, also known as “Guillin” or “Guilla,” of Estate Richmond died on Saturday, Aug. 22. She was 88 years old.

She is survived by her daughters: Nelly Rivers and Petronila (Petrin) Adams; sons: Orlando (Ito) Benitez, Eddie R. Benitez, Epifanio (Liso) Benitez, Luis E. (Chinchin) Benitez, Wilfredo (Freddy) Benitez and  Alexander (Alex) J. Adams; and grandchildren: Patrick L. Rivers Jr., Epifanio (Papito) Adams, Roy Rhymer, Angela (Angie) Bermudez, Militza (Millie) Ramirez, Orlando (Cuchi) Benitez, Eddie Benitez Jr., Alexie Benitez, Angela, Carlos and Marcos Benitez.

She is also survived by great-grandchildren: Alex and Axel Adams, Keynan, Jayden, Davonn and Patrick III Rivers, Arianna Rhymer, Josue, Jahdiel and Javier Bermudez, Shamarie, Eliezer Jr. and Eliell Ramirez, Anniyah Benitez and Damien J. Benitez; sisters: Leonor Ayala and Felicidad (Fifi) Guadalupe; and nieces: Myrna and Eva Bonano, Felisa Lafontaine, Vilma Santana and Elizabeth Toruella, Betty Vidal, Guini Guirty, Elizabeth (Lisin) Drew and Felicidad (Cui) Joseph, Maritza and Margarita (Puchie) Ayala, Mayra Senhouse, Julia Colon, Lucrecia Monte Elliott, Carlota and Marie Nieves, Adelaida Owen, Wanda and Magin Ayala, Ilia Delerme and Irin Santana, Heydee Vasques, Lydia Molina, Magaly Aloyo, Nilda Dummond, Anna Adams and Magaly Aloyo.

Other survivors include daughters-in-law: Abigail Adams, Heidi and Amanda Benitez; brother-in-law, Turiano Bonano; special friends: Iris Martinez, Peggylee Nestor, Paula Osorio, Doña Tatin, Paula Cotto, Norma and Tata Encarnacion, Lydia Figueroa, Eling Joseph, Eric Westerberg, Joey Bermudez, Xiomara Maisonett and Iglesia H.U.E.C. Zion family; special thanks to Dr. Carmen Cintron and Continuum Care and staff; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

The first viewing will be held from 3-5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 3, at James Memorial Funeral Chapel.

The second viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 4, at Iglesia H.U.E.C. Zion (Castle Coakley). Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery. The family respectfully requests that attendees wear a face mask and adhere to the social distancing requirements.
